Training Agenda Benelux July-Dec 2011
The rapidly increasing virtualization in data centers makes it impossible to keep up the strict separation between IT teams and responsibilities. Network interfaces, for instance, have to be configured on a VMware ESX Server. The server administrator, however, is not responsible for the network configuration, and the network operator does not know vSphere. Cisco Systems has dealt with this problem in cooperation with the developers of VMware. With Nexus 1000V, the company provides a product which enables network operators to work with a virtual switch and to configure it with the commands of the Cisco CLI. A basic understanding of the vSphere server architecture and of the administration of a VMware server, however, continues to be indispensable. Moreover, the VMware administrator must understand the new technical features offered by the virtual Cisco switch. The course deals with this conflict field and endeavors to reconcile and unify these two worlds. Server and network administrators are meant to understand the requirements, technical options, and problems of each other and to find the optimum solution in the common dialog.
