Training Agenda Benelux July-Dec 2011
This course about the MDS 9000 product family initially describes the special technological features. Subsequently, an enterprise SAN will be set up with these components. The course starts with an introduction to the architecture of the devices and Cisco-specific features, such as Virtual Storage Area Networks (VSANs), LUN Zoning, or Fibre Channel Congestion Control. After an overview of the system components and installation of the switches, the configuration of these components will be practiced in a test network, including troubleshooting scenarios. In combination with the IASNScourse, the contents of this course prepare the participant for test no. 642-356 (CSSS).

Course Contents
• Architecture and Features of the MDS 9000 Switches
• Generation 1 and Generation 2 Line Cards
• MDS 9000 System Components, Installation, and Basic Configuration

In this course, each student will receive the original Cisco Systems course documentation in English language.

Target Group
The primary target group of this training are SAN designers and administrators who design, implement, and operate Fibre Channel SANs on the basis of MDS 9000 Switches. Moreover, the course offers a thorough insight into the special features of the Cisco MDS 9000 switches and serves as a preparation for the CSSS® Certification.

Knowledge Prerequisites
Basic knowledge about storage networks and the Fibre Channel Protocol, as imparted in the Storage Area Networks - SAN Alternatives in Comparison course, is indispensable. Experience with the configuration of the Cisco IOS software is desirable, but not necessary for SAN experts.
