This instructor-led training provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage a Brocade Storage Area Network (SAN). We will discuss how to use Brocade products to address different areas of concern for SAN Managers. CSM 270 offers a significant amount of hands-on experience and discussion that are needed to become proficient with Brocade’s management tools. Lectures introduce the main concepts with a minimum of theory and a maximum of practical applications. Topics include SAN change management and maintenance, SAN monitoring, SAN troubleshooting, performance tuning, and optimization. Hands-on lab exercises apply the processes defined in lecture, using scenarios developed from real-world end-user solutions.

This course is designed for SAN managers, network administrators, and others who actively manage and monitor a SAN.
Knowledge Prerequisites
• Attend the CFP 270 and CFP 271 courses or have equivalent Fabric OS v6.x and Brocade switch management skills
• Take Introduction to Brocade Virtual Fabrics (AFS 141) web-based training course or have equivalent knowledge of Brocade Virtual Fabrics
Course Objective
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
• Describe the relationship between the different lifecycle stages of a Brocade SAN.
• Identify SAN management areas of concern.
• Analyze and react to SAN issues, using Brocade’s Management tools including but not limited to, DCFM, Web Tools, CLI, SAN Health, NMS and Fabric Watch.
• Demonstrate knowledge of managing and maintaining the core configuration files of your fabric.
• Monitor and analyze the health of the SAN.
• Implement and recognize change management processes.
• Manage SAN users and security.
• Monitor and troubleshoot fabric faults.
• Configure external interfaces such as Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) to communicate with 3rd-party applications.
• Manage the installation and configuration of Brocade HBAs.
• Use knowledge gained in class to help pass the Brocade Certified SAN Manager (BCSM) Exam.
