Modern firewalls and intrusion detection systems are able to protect the own network against attacks from outside very well. They have not been designed, however, to prevent dangers caused by user errors and faulty operations. This is where the ProxySG series of Blue Coat Systems comes into play. With the SGOS 4, the appliances work as high-quality proxies, permitting the monitoring, filtering, and logging of the user traffic. They examine the HTTP traffic with regard to faulty or harmful contents which will not be detected by a normal firewall. The course at hand gives an introduction to the installation and configuration of the devices on the basis of the SGOS 4 software and prepares for the certification as BCCPA.
