This instructor-led training course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to help them become proficient with Brocade products and Fabric OS v6.3 features. Topics include introduction to Fibre Channel, switch installation and configuration, zoning, Inter-Switch Links (ISLs), routing, ISL Trunking, updating switch firmware, backing up switch configurations, and basic troubleshooting. Students perform switch management using Telnet and Brocade Web Tools. This course also teaches and reinforces the skills necessary to prepare for the BCFA exam.

Target Group
This course is designed for storage administrators, SAN administrators, system administrators, SAN architects, systems engineers, and SAN operators that are involved with configuration, change management, maintenance, monitoring, configuration, tuning and optimization, and SAN troubleshooting.

Knowledge Prerequisites
FC 101 Fibre Channel Fundamentals
• Six months of work experience associated with SCSI storage and LANs

Course Objective
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
• Identify the Brocade product line.
• Describe physical layer SAN components.
• Discuss Fibre Channel concepts.
• Install, configure, and verify functionality of switches in a Brocade fabric.
• Perform maintenance tasks that include downloading firmware, validating firmware downloads, and backing up switch configurations.
• Configure, verify, administer, and describe Brocade zoning.
• Evaluate multi-switch fabric routing.
• Implement multi-switch fabric trunking and distance solutions.
• Identify management tools and interfaces used to manage Brocade fabrics.
• Describe and utilize Brocade error messages, commands, and diagnostics.
• List steps to use either a RADIUS or LDAP server for user authentication.
• Describe how to use SAN Health to document a SAN.

Supplementary Courses
CFP 380 (Advanced Fibre Channel Administration and Theory) is a subsequent three day course designed to cover Fabric OS advanced features; it will include BCFP certification topics.
