Please note:
Cisco has scrutinized both the process and the contents of the CCNP certification and shifted the focus clearly to enterprise networks. Instead of four exams, only three will be required in future. They are called ROUTE (Implementing Cisco IP Routing), SWITCH (Implementing Cisco Switched Networks), and TSHOOT (Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks).
The exams 642-825 (ISCW), 642-845 (ONT), 642-901 (BSCI), 642-812 (BCMSN), and 642-892 (composite exam) will be offered until July 31, 2010. Afterwards, only the new exams will be available. The BSCI and BCMSN exams as well as the composite exam will only be accepted for three years after passing the exam for a CCDP certification.
The precondition is a valid CCNA certification.
Cisco Systems recommends attending the following courses as a preparation for the required exams:

For CCNP recertification, it is sufficient to pass any exam from the series of Professional level courses in the area of general certifications.
